Big news about Amphotericin B injection, Relatives of Black Fungus patients hopefully will get some relief

What is MucorMycosis or Black Fungus and what is Amphotericin B injection

After Remdesivir and Oxygen the Black Marketers are now hoarding drugs available for treating Black Fungus. One such drug used to treat MucorMycosis or Black Fungus is Amphotericin B

Amphotericin B is in great demand after the surge in Black Fungus cases in India. An anti-fungal drug used in the treatment of a rare infection called mucormycosis, or "black fungus", is in short supply across states in India.

Amphotericin B, is manufactured by many Indian Pharmaceutical firms, and the chances of its short supply are rare but it is still on sale on the black market

The reason why there is a lot of panic about the short supply is that we can see a number of emergency appeals on social media for the drug as mucormycosis cases are rising in many states in India.

One of the reasons of the Black Fungus infection according to the doctors is the usage of steroids in severely-ill Covid patients.

Mucormycosis is caused by exposure to mucor mould which is commonly found in soil, plants, manure and decaying fruits and vegetables.

The black Fungus can be dangerous in diabetic or severely immunocompromised people, such as cancer patients or people with HIV/AIDS. It affects the sinuses, the brain and the lungs and many patients arrive for treatment late, when they are already losing vision, and doctors have to surgically remove the eye to stop the infection from reaching the brain.

Doses of Amphotericin B

According to doctors Amphotericin B or "ampho-B" is an anti-fungal intravenous injection which has to be administered every day for up to eight weeks to patients diagnosed with Mucormycosis. There are two forms of the drug available: standard amphotericin B deoxycholate and liposomal amphotericin.

To deal with the menace of Black Fungus amidst the second wave of Coronavirus, the Delhi Government has set up a 3-member Technical Committee to deal with the black marketing, hoarding and shortage of essential medicines and injections. The committee will ensure the availability of essential medicines by keeping an eye on the treatment of the patients suffering from this disease.

Hospitals will have to apply for Amphotericin B

After the decision of the government, now any hospital in Delhi will have to get the amphotericin B (Amphotericin B) injection required for black fungus treatment will have to apply to the same three-member committee

Call it Indian Strain or Modi Strain, BJP says Congress created toolkit to tarnish India's image

What is truth behind the Congress Toolkit?

Few points from the Congress Toolkit shared by BJP

"Our non-party office-bearers and supporters can be used to highlight, by carefully using pictures, that Kumbh is a show of political power in the name of religion while Eid gatherings are happy social gatherings of families and communities.

"Mobilise former civil servants to raise questions about PM-CARES like they did earlier" and "Mobilise friendly RTI activists to file multiple RTIs" on the fund.

"points for political mobilisation" like - "In panel discussions, call the project as Modi's personal house".

"Use the phrase 'Indian strain' whenever talking of the new mutant. Social media volunteers may call it 'Modi strain'."

The Congress Tool kit is doing the rounds on Social Media these days. BJP has accused that the Congress Party was planning to tarnish the image of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP shared the Tool kit of Congress and alleged that Congress Party has coined the term Indian Strain to defame India. Congress further wanted to tarnish the image of the PM by calling the new strain of the coronavirus the “India strain" or the “Modi strain".

Citing a purported Congress toolkit, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra said according to the document, it is clear that the Congress extending help to the needy during the pandemic is “more of a public relations exercise with the help of friendly journalists and influencers than a soulful endeavour". However, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate at a virtual press conference claimed that there is no such document as shown by the BJP spokesperson and the party was initiating legal action.

Congress also accused BJP of propagating a “fake toolkit" to defame it and said it would lodge a police complaint against the ruling party chief JP Nadda and its spokesperson Sambit Patra

The Congress tweeted “BJP is propagating a fake ‘toolkit’ on ‘COVID-19 mismanagement’ and attributing it to AICC Research Department. We are filing an FIR for forgery against JP Nadda and Sambit Patra," Congress’ research cell head Rajeev Gowda said on Twitter. “When our country is devastated by COVID, instead of providing relief, BJP shamelessly concocts forgeries," he also alleged.

Randeep Surjewala the chief spokesperson of Congress said, “Soon after the BJP forged the ‘fake toolkit’, all its ‘fake devotees’ and ‘friends in the media’ came out to set the agenda." “We are going to file a case against BJP President JP Nadda and his spokespersons, but the truth about their misdeeds will not be left hidden," he said.

BJP President JP Nadda hit out the Congress, alleging that the opposition party is a “master" at “dividing society and spewing venom against others". “India is seeing the Congress’ antics, while the nation is fighting COVID-19. I would urge Congress to go beyond ‘Toolkit Models’ and do something constructive," the BJP chief tweeted.

“Disgusting to say the least Rahul Gandhi wants to use this opportunity of pandemic to destroy the image of Prime Minister Modi. Congress workers instructed to call the mutant strain as Modi strain,” Patra wrote on Twitter.

Patra also alleged that no stone has been left unturned to tarnish India’s image with the help of foreign journalists. He further alleged that the “Congress toolkit” has also suggested calling the Kumbh Mela the “Super Spreader Kumbh”.
