All you need to know about Purvanchal expressway project and updated status
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country's longest Purvanchal Expressway on 16 November. For this, preparations have started at the government-administration level. The 354 km long Purvanchal Expressway is currently being built between Ghazipur and Lucknow, but Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to extend it till Ballia.
At present, Purvanchal Expressway is the longest expressway
in the country, which is now ready and will pass through 10 districts of UP. It
will pass through 9 districts of Uttar Pradesh namely Lucknow, Sultanpur,
Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Barabanki, Amethi, Mau and Ghazipur. It
will be extended up to Ballia. After the start of Purvanchal Expressway, about
10 lakh people of 10 districts will be directly benefited. Mandis and
industries will also be set up along the expressway. This is expected to create
thousands of jobs.
Purvanchal Expressway will connect Chandsarai in district
Lucknow to Hydaria in Ghazipur district. In addition, the expressway will also
be connected to Varanasi through a separate link road. In addition, it will
also connect to the national capital through the 165 km long Agra-Greater Noida
Yamuna Expressway and the 302 km long Agra-Lucknow Expressway. The construction
of this expressway is expected to provide many benefits along with saving time
and fuel, reduction in accidents.
Also, the travel time is expected to be reduced by five
hours.
In future, Purvanchal Expressway can be expanded to 8 lanes.
Presently the expressway is of 6 lanes. Not only this, after connecting with
Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway will become a huge industrial
corridor. It will connect eastern Uttar Pradesh with the western border, which
is expected to result in overall development of the state.
It is expected that after the commencement of this
expressway, 6 lakh passenger and goods vehicles will pass daily. With the help
of this, the distance from Ghazipur to the state capital Lucknow will be
covered in just three and a half hours. Presently it takes about 8 hours to
cover this distance. Not only this, the road from Ghazipur to Delhi will also
become easy. The distance to Delhi will be covered in just 10 hours.
