committed suicide had suddenly come to the limelight in 2008 when Congress
President Rahul Gandhi after meeting her at her house raised the issues of
farmer suicides in the parliament. While addressing he specifically mentioned

Kalawati, lives in Jalka village of
Vidarbha, Maharashtra, her husband a farmer had committed suicide several years
ago.
Nobody knows how Kalawati is living now.
What is her economical status? However news reports pour in at frequent
intervals about Kalawati and her family’s struggle with life. She is taking care of a big family comprising her children and grand children.
She became a household name in Maharashtra,
but in 2010 her son-in-law could not bear the debt burden and committed
suicide. One of her daughters also died later in the same year
