Tanishq Withdraws its Controversial Ad after Backlash




Tanishq was accused of glorifying Love Jihad by many Social Media users and questioned the intent of this advertisement.

The famous Jewelery retail brand in India Tanishq has taken down its controversial advertisement from the Youtube and other platforms. After the advertisement surfaced on social media, there was a huge social media outrage. The SM users questioned Tanishq whether they can do the same ad by reversing the religion of the bride. Tanishq brand is owned by Titan.


The #BoycottTanishq was top trend on twitter and other SM platforms, though we saw some support as well from some opposition leaders like Shashi Tharoor.




Some Twitter users also felt that it is a deliberate attempt by Mansoor Khan who, a brand manager associated with Tanishq. The Linkedin Profile of Mansoor Khan is no longer available.
