Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing on Sunday arrested Kerala actor Leena Maria Paul. She was allegedly helping her partner Sukesh Chandrasekhar, who is also an accused in 21 cases, in extorting Rs 200 crore from a businessman's wife.

As per reports, the police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act against the accused. Police say that Leena allegedly helped Chandrasekhar in duping former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh's wife Aditi Singh.

 

Aditi Singh had informed the police that a man posing as a senior official of the Law Ministry in June last year had offered to help her secure bail for her husband, who was in jail at that time. The man demanded money for this help. An FIR was registered on August 7 in this case

Her husband Shivinder Singh was arrested in a money laundering case related to alleged misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Ltd (RFL) in 2019.

 

The actress had earlier been also arrested in 2015 and 2013. That time she was arrested by Delhi and Chennai police economic fraud cases.

Leena also came into limelight after a shootout at a beauty parlour run by her in Panampilli Nagar in Kocji, in Ernakulam in 2018.

The two men who fired at the parlour were allegedly hired by Ravi Poojari, a gangster was arrested from Bengaluru for hiring the two men to  threaten the actor and extort money from her.

Leena Maria Paul, a small-time actor was seen in a minor role in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Madras Cafe’ as a Tamil rebel. However she has managed to create headlines over the years for her alleged fraud cases

 

Paul began her career with Mohanlal-starrer ‘Red Chillies’ (2009) and has since then appeared in several films like ‘Husbands in Goa’ (2012), ‘Cobra’ (2012) and ‘Biriyani’ (2013). According to a news report, she had trained to be a dentist in Bengaluru, but later quit to pursue her love for cinema.
