Kanhaiya Kumar Feeling Suffocated in CPI? May join Congress soon

Former JNU Students Union president and CPI LEADER Kanhaiya Kumar to join Congress?

Jignesh Mewani is also in talks with top Congress Leaders

Kanhayiya Kumar met Rahul Gandhi, and speculation is rife that he is looking for an to entry into the Congress. Another leader from Gujarat, MLA Jignesh Mevani is also in touch with Congress and may join the party if sources are to be believed

Kanhayia Kumar, was a star campaigner for CPI and the opposition in the last Loksabha elections. Many celebrities and opposition leaders were predicting his victory against Giriraj. But he lost by a huge margin and after that he was side lined by the party and other supporters.  A report published in the Indian Express says that he was feeling suffocated in the CPI. He met Gandhi on Tuesday and the two are learnt to have discussed his entry into the Congress. When asked about Kumar’s possible exit, CPI general secretary D Raja said he has only heard speculation in this regard. “I can only say that he was present at the national executive meeting of our party earlier this month. He spoke and participated in the deliberations,” Raja said.

If Kumar, who is known for his oratory skills, joins the Congress, the party could also use him for campaigning in Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. With the SP and BSP making it clear that they will not join hands with the Congress for the forthcoming Assembly elections, the party will be fighting the elections on its own – Indian Express
