Digital documentation & eSignature Solutions for Covid-19 World - Gurugram Startup Story
Because
of Covid-19 outbreak, the entire world is under a complete lockdown. Companies
are asking the employees to work from home. Employees of most of the small and
big organizations have adapted work from home.
Covid-19
has hit every business big or small, and stock markets across the globe have
crashed.
The
world had never imagined that a virus that originated from Wuhan China would
spread so fast in a short period. Nearly 2 lakh deaths have already been
reported across the globe due to this highly contagious virus.
As
people are working remotely, companies are facing many challenges, and problems
across verticals, right from drawing up contracts for vendor onboarding,
contracts for new employees are pending, even getting approvals from top bosses
are delayed.
The
employees and bosses may be in regular touch by using video conferencing apps,
but signatures and approvals continue to be a challenge. Even today, the
majority of companies still use traditional ways of drawing contracts and
deals.
The
lockdown due to Covid19 is forcing even the most traditional companies to
change this trend and go paperless. The credit goes to the digital signature
and electronic documentation startups offering eSign and Document workflow
solutions.
As
per the IT Act, digital signatures are legal and recognized as a valid
instrument for enforcing contracts. The eSignatures are valid in a court of law
and can be done through crypto-tokens, Aadhaar, or video-based verifications.
Therefore the companies have started looking for the digital options for
continuity of workflow.
There
are many Startups in India which are offering digital signatures and other such
services like digital legal documentation platforms.
Legaldesk
and SignDesk are two products of Bengaluru-based startup Desk Nine, which
offers digital signatures to more than 40 large enterprises.
Just
like Desk Nine, there is another startup, Leegality, which is providing services
like digital signatures, electronic stamping, and paperless documentation to
corporates in India and abroad.
Leegality - Gurugram-based digital legal documentation platform
A
few weeks ago days Leegality did something which they have never imagined. The
Gurgaon based startup, managed the paperwork digitally and helped an
acquisition to get completed during the lockdown. The complete documentation
and signatures during the process of acquiring the company were done digitally
through Leegality’s software solution within a few hours.
Leegality,
founded by graduates of National Law School (NLU), Bangalore offers solutions
that can help the companies to switch from paper documentation processes to
perfect digital ones. The digital solutions save time, and the efficiency in
the documentation process increases manifold. Besides workflow automation, the
digital solutions also help in reducing operational costs
Leegality
raised an undisclosed amount in a funding round led by Mumbai Angels Network
and Chandigarh Angels last year.
Founded
in 2016 by Shivam Singla, Prakhar Agrawal, and Sapan Parekh, Leegality aims to
provide secure, legally acceptable, quick Aadhaar card, as well as eSign and
eStamping facilities.
Digital Documentation in future
Over
the past few years, many startups have already adopted the digital
documentation solutions, but the large companies and public sector were still
hesitant. The WFH due to the pandemic outbreak is changing the perception now.
No company would like that their tasks are stuck because of the
non-availability of authorized signatories. The clients may not visit your
office and vice versa to physically sign a contract. The banking sector may not
get the paper form filled and signed to open an account.
The
solution is getting the services of eSign and Digital Stamping companies in
India.
These
companies are already playing an essential role during Covid-19 Pandemic. In
the future as well, these companies are expecting more players to use their
platforms to ensure their business documentation continues to flow, and the
contracts continue to be executed in a legally binding manner.
